Today I am here to tell you about some lesser-known horror films.

These are not all sure rare, or low budget etc, just films that, at least in the UK, I didn’t see much advertising for and I don’t want them to be missed.

The Vigil

Summary A young man spends a scary night fulfilling a ritualistic vigil over a dead body.

Opinion This was a wonderful film with amazing characters and atmosphere.

False Positive

Summary Hailed as a modern take of cult classic Rosemary’s Baby. Ilana Glazer’s character Lucy was dying to get pregnant… but her baby might just kill her.

Opinion I love the paranoia horror, is it real, is she a bit mad? A wonderfully dark story of isolation and fear

The 8th Night

Summary This Korean thriller has it all, a haunted shaman, a mythical monster, a tragic protagonist, a sceptical detective investigating murders and demon hunting.

Opinion Korean cinema is amazing, this is an amazing story addition to that. Its haunting and atmospheric and all round fantastic.

The Djinn

Summary A mute lad makes a wish which leave him fighting a mythical monster for his life.

Opinion I talk a lot about representation in horror and this is a pretty good example of that with a mute protagonist. Though it’s not perfect, its great at keeping the tension going and the lad is great, his fear feels real. Well worth your time.
